Are You Ready?!

That’s right folks it’s time!

The moment you’ve been waiting for has arrived!

I’m ready to officially announce a schedule of events for the House in Mourning program!!!

Candlelight Tour – Saturday, October 5th at 7:00 pm

Glenwood Cemetery Walk, focusing on funerary art – Saturday, October 12th at 1:00 pm

Closing Program and Candlelight Tour – Friday, November 1 at 6:30 pm

Additional Tour Hours, Prices, and Other Programs will be added to the website and here on the blog. The House will be open for regularly scheduled tours on Saturday, October 19th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm as usual.

What is so special about the House during this time? Well, a lot! The House will be dressed for mourning, meaning there will be black fabric and wreaths outside and all mirrors on the first floor will be covered in black. If you want to know why, you’ll have to check out the museum. There will also be an exhibit on the first floor of the House, describing nineteenth-century mourning and funeral customs, as well as a bit to do with the nineteenth-century spiritualist movement.

That’s all I’m going to give you, so if you want more information, you’re going to have to stop by the House. I hope to see you around.
