Exhibits: Will and Florence Orrell’s Home

Florence Whaley, R. J. and Mary Whaley’s daughter, married William Crapo Orrell in October 1895.

Florence and Will documented their first home together on East Street and Whaley House Museum received the photographs from their son, Robert Whaley Orrell.  Below is their photographic tour of their home.

  1. In the “Upper Front Room” photo there is a very unusual plant stand. If memory serves me correctly, there’s a spelter plant stand in the Sloan Museum that looks very similar to this one. Is it the same plant stand?

    I suspect the plant stand that’s in the Sloan Museum was made by the prolific caster Nicholas Muller & Son. He’s largely unknown today, but in his day he was known for unusual and bizarre castings.
